Scottie Matthews passed away unexpectedly on July 19th at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Scottie was born in Orange County in Chapel Hill on July 7th, 1966. He graduated from Jordan Matthews High School in 1984 and attended a year of college at North Carolina Central University with a major in business. Scottie served in the US army for 2 years with an honorable discharge. He gave his life to the Lord at a young age at Jordan Grove AME church.
Scottie was always so kind and very thoughtful. Before Scottie left the presence of his family and friends, he will always be remembered by the words “I LOVE YOU”, and the many lives he has touched. Scottie was a jack of all trades. He was well diverse at carpentry, plumbing, and electrical wiring just to name a few. His favorite sports teams were Oakland Raiders, and Duke Blue Devils.
Scottie is survived by: his mother, Lola Matthews; father, Bennie Coble; one son, Josiah Jeremiah William Matthews of Plainfield NJ.; three brothers, Reggie Matthews of Siler City, NC, Chris Matthews (Sandra) of Chesterville, VA, and Rodney Matthews of McLeansville, NC. Scottie has a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends whom he cherished and loved dearly.
