Mrs. Sandra Price Obituary

Sandra Kaye Johnson Price was born on Hickory Mountain in Chatham County, North Carolina on January 26th, 1945 as the seventh of eight children to the late Iona Glover Johnson and Junius Pearl Johnson. On Saturday, January 28th, 2023, Sandra entered eternal life. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Carson and Johnnie (J.J.) and her sisters, Christine, Arzalia, Brenda, Olivia and Cornelia.

She received her early education in the Chatham County school system and graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1962 at Chatham High School. Sandra went on to earn her college degree at Bennett College in Greensboro, NC. She did her student teaching in Lincolnton, NC but later was employed by the Chatham County School System. She taught Home Economics/ Commercial Food Service as well as Special Populations throughout her 40+ years as an educator. She was proud to be an educator.

Sandra was known for her straightforwardness and “get it done” stance. She loved teaching andshe always advocated for the “underdog.” She went above and beyond for her students and never stopped until they succeeded. Sandra was raised in Lincoln Heights and she never forgot her community. She will forever be known as the ultimate mentor and second mom to so many. She was a “problem solver” and often was referred to as a “rock” per her colleagues. She was always full of advice and enjoyed all people from all walks of life. She never met a stranger and everyone loved her. Sandra always had something funny to say or tell. She was often heard telling people to “get on task” and “put your game face on.” She did not let life get her down, she got life and provided joy to all around her. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, collecting new recipes and cookbooks, sewing, gardening, watching football/basketball and visiting new restaurants. You could not out do her in the kitchen and she bragged about running circles around you when it came to cooking. One of Sandra’s favorite activities after retirement was attending her grandson’s basketball and baseball games. She was his biggest fan.

Sandra and her devoted husband of 55 years, Bobby started their relationship as high school sweethearts and were married on June 23, 1967. To this union 2 children were born, Melissa Simona Price and Josef Bryant Price. Sandra’s family was everything to her. She made sure her family was ok at all times. Anything she could do for family she did at any cost.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby S. Price, of the home; daughter, Dr. Melissa S. Price of Lithonia, GA; son, Josef B. Price of Siler City, NC; two grandchildren, Grace Symone Price of Greensboro, NC and Sean Austin Price, Siler City, NC; one beloved sister-in-law, Gwennette Johnson of Siler City, NC ; one brother-in law, John Terry Price (Venna) of Siler City, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
