Mrs. Geraldine "Shirley" (Brewer) Mason

Obituary 

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalms 116:15 

Geraldine (Shirley) Brewer Mason was born February 11, 1956 to Samuel and Ada Brewer. Geraldine departed this life on July 30, 2021. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to a host of nieces, nephews and friends. 

Geraldine (Shirley) attended Chatham High School and Central Community College where she received an Applied Science Associate Degree. She was a former employee of Glendale Hosiery and Sara Lee Hosiery. In 1994, she opened Geraldine’s Childcare Home Daycare to the public. On December 3, 1977, she married Willie H. Mason and to this union three children were born: LeSonia, Antonio and Miranda Mason. 

Geraldine (Shirley) joined Unity Powerhouse Church under the leadership of Bishop William A. Goins. She served faithfully as a Deaconess, Secretary of Usher Board, Announcement Clerk, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and former Youth Department President and the Vice President. She was a devoted member of the Missionary Department, Program Committee, UPC Praise Team and Gospel Mass Choir. 

Geraldine (Shirley) was a caring and loveable person who had a passion for church and people. She loved baking pies and cakes. She was full of wisdom and was always ready to offer advice, prayer and words of encouragement. Children and her family had a special place in her heart. She was known to her Daycare children as “Maw Maw”. She loved and cared for all eight of them as if they were her own. 

Geraldine (Shirley) was preceded in death by: her father, Samuel J. Brewer; sisters, Denise Graves, Helen M. Foxx, Ada Louise Spinks; brothers Joey Brewer and Jerry Brewer. 

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Willie Mason of the home; children, LeSonia Mason (Jerome) of Greensboro, NC, Antonio Mason (Maria) of Greensboro, NC, Miranda Mason Baldwin (Michael) of Siler City, NC; a special daughter/niece, Deborah Brewer of Siler City, NC; her mother, Ada C. Brewer of Siler City, NC; two brothers, Elder Samuel Brewer (Elder Rebecca) of Ramseur, NC, Pastor Prophet William Brewer (Angeles) of Siler City, NC; eight grandchildren, Rasheed, Kiemen, Alexis, Jai, Jamison, Jayda, Dynasty and Jordan; one great grandchild, Kylee; three special grandchildren, Ashley, Messiah, Kane and Kylan; goddaughter, Alicia Eubanks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
