Mother Ella Marsh Womble was born on May 19, 1919 in Siler City, North Carolina and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Siler City Center, Siler City, NC. She was the youngest of fourteen children. Her parents are the late Lawrence and Cora Marsh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, twelve siblings, one son, daughter-in-law, one great-great granddaughter, special nieces, Sylvia, Eva, Peggy and special nephews, Fred, and Mitchell.
At an early age, she professed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and joined Gees Grove AME Zion Church. Mrs. Womble was a member of the following boards and auxiliaries; Class Leader, Missionary Society, President of the Senior Choir and Senior Usher Board, Youth Director and attended Sunday School regularly. She was also a member of the Community Circle.
Ella married the late John Headen. To this union the Lord blessed her with three sons, John Lawrence, Bobby Thomas and the late Thurl Cecil. Ella was united in marriage to the late Robert Womble. In this union their hearts and home was opened to expand space to accommodate more and more people and host the Family Reunion for many years. Their years together were a testament of love and generosity.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, two sons, John Lawrence and Bobby Thomas and two daughters-in-law, Judy and Dorothea. She has nine grandchildren, Theresa, Trena, Thurl, Chris, Bobby Jr. D'mario, Belissa, Timothy and Angela; fourteen great-grandchildren, Shamika, Demetrius, Robin, Rachel, Kenya, Thala, Kaleb, Avianna, DJ, Sydni, Kendall, Carmen, Jo-Joe and Langston; six great-great grandchildren, Aliza, Khadifi, Aaliyah, Jovan, Cinnamon and Amir; one great-great-great- grandchild, Passion; one living sister, Hattie Hill who lives in New York and is 109 years old and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Ella cherished her family, church family and enjoyed family gatherings. The legacy of Mother Ella will remain in our hearts forever and ever.
