Elaine Gwendolyn Maxine Alston Knight

Elaine Gwendolyn Maxine Alston-Knight was born April 15,1940 in Siler City, North Carolina to Edgar and Mary Ann Alston. She departed this world on June 6, 2021 at Universal Health care in Ramseur, North Carolina.

Elaine was a life long member of Evans Chapel AME Zion Church in Siler City where she was baptized, enjoyed Sunday School, and served as a trustee until declining health issues restricted her attendance.

After graduating from Chatham High School in 1957, Elaine studied at NC A&T State University before moving on to attend Maco Beauty College in Greensboro where she graduated in  1958.Elaine was a beautician for many years. Before retirement, Elaine worked as an equipment operator in the boarding department at the Glendale Hosiery Mill until the late1990s.

Elaine married the late Grover Knight from Chicago, and to this union her beloved son, Christopher Knight, was born in 1970.

Elaine was a faithful member of the Chatham High School Alumni and helped to plan and host their annual multi-class reunions. In addition to spending jubliant time with family, she was known to enjoy a card game now and then. Her competitive spirit was served by her love for game play. She thoroughly enjoyed taking in movies and attending American Legion events with family.
