Brenda Carol was born on December 16, 1960 in Chatham County, NC to the late Carl F. Wilkerson and
Gennell S. Wilkerson. She peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest on April 5, 2020 at the age of 59
years old.
Brenda lived a rewarding life that has been captured by her love for singing the gospel, working in
evangelism and pastoral ministry, and engaging as a trainer and educator in career fields such as early
childhood education and adult education. Growing up, Brenda was a student in Chatham County Schools
and graduated high school in 1979. After her high school years, she went on to get her Associate of
Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood from Central Carolina Community College, her Bachelor of
Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mt. Olive College, and her Master of Arts Degree in
Education (Adult Education and Training) from University of Phoenix. In addition to her academic
endeavors, Brenda also had 17 years of experience working in the field of early childhood and gained
credentials/certifications from institutions such as Wheelock Graduate School, Frank Porter Graham
Child Development Institute at UNC Chapel Hill, North Carolina Division of Child Development, and
North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
Brenda became a licensed minister through the Church of God of Prophecy and also attended the
Journey of a Lifetime Institute in Chatham County under the leadership of Reverend Bobby Siler to grow
in ministry. She was in ministry for over 20 years and was a member of Jesus World Soul Center in
Southern Pines, NC where she was affectionately known as Elect Lady Foxx. Brenda and her husband,
Billy Foxx, have been married for 39 years and have been partners in ministry together. Through their
union, they have three children: Krystal, Shanae, and Ricky whom they have supported wholeheartedly
in all their endeavors. Brenda took pride in raising her children and building up her community. She
traveled extensively around North Carolina and other states where she served as a songstress (often
called “songbird”) and evangelist to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ. She and her husband also led
ministry efforts at local rest homes and community events. Evangelist Foxx has been pivotal in helping
others establish their ministries through seed sowing and her ministry leadership. Brenda was indeed a
phenomenal woman and will be sorely missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl F. Wilkerson and Gennell S. Wilkerson, and by her
brothers, Carl and Brian Wilkerson. She is survived by her husband, Billy J. Foxx, and her three children:
Krystal, Shanae, and Ricky. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony Wilkerson of Siler City, NC, and
her two sisters, Delena Wilkerson of Oak Park, IL and Bonita Moffitt of Siler City, NC. She also leaves
behind her in-laws (Sally, Audrey, Susan, Eva, James, and Peggy), aunts (special aunt Carolyn), uncles,
nieces and nephews, friends, church families, and colleagues.
