Mrs. Annie Foxx Obituary

Obituary

Mrs. Annie Selle Jordan Foxx, the eldest daughter born to Ms. Annie Luscille Jordan on February 25, 1937, transitioned into eternal rest on June 28, 2020 at UNC Hospitals.

Annie Selle, as she was affectionately  called began her walk with God at an early age, attending Jordan Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, where she participated in various organizations during her youth. In her later years, she served the church humbly as Church Secretary and Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board Member, and Secretary of various organizations. She served on the Board of Trustees, until her health began to fail and was made Trustee Emeritus. She served as Missionary President for numerous years and took her position seriously. She took pride in any position that was offered to her and loved to teach the young members of the church how to properly conduct church business. She loved to sing and was a lifelong member of the Sunlight Gospel Singers, singing her favorite song entitled “You Don’t Know like I Know.” After her health declined, you could still hear her sing her favorite song from the church pew and after singing she could give a testimony that would set your soul on fire as she would say, “You can’t tell it , let me tell it cause you don’t know what he’s done for me.”

She was educated in the Chatham County School System graduating with the Class of 1955. After graduating, she gained employment at Kellwood Company, as a hosiery mill inspector. Retiring with over 30 years of service. After retirement, she furthered her education by enrolling at Central Carolina Community College, where she took Computer Technology along with her daughter, Sheva.

Annie Selle was a quiet soul, but full of wisdom with a certain wit when she had something to say that made you chuckle. It was evident that she cooked with love as you could taste it in every bite of her delicious chicken and chess pies.

She married the love of her life, Mr. Tommie Foxx on February 22, 1958, to this union three children were born, Morris Dale, Randy, and Sheva.

Annie Selle was preceded in death by her mother Luscille, siblings Joe, William (Bill), Sylvia, and granddaughter Marnis.

She leaves to cherish her legacy: her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Tommie Foxx;  children, Morris Dale Foxx (Mary Ann), Randy Foxx (Carol), and Sheva Foxx; siblings, Adrean Jordan (Janie), Gene Jordan (Gwen), Patricia Bowden, and Terry Jordan (Annette); grandchildren, Tosha Dunlap and Morris Dale Foxx Jr. ; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Jordan, Priscilla Jordan, Helen Handon, Annie Bailey, and Sylvia Johnson; brothers-in-law, London Alston and Guy Coble and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins near and far, and a multitude of friends.
