On January 5, 2022, our beloved James (Jim) Watson slipped into God's arms after blessing us with his presence here on earth for 80 years. Jim was born in Chatham County on November 9, 1941 to the late George Watson, Sr. and Rev. Aver Lee Alston Watson.
Jim lived in Chatham County all his life. At a young age, he joined Glover's Grove A.M.E. Zion Church and was one of the first members of the Morning Stars Gospel Choir. He graduated from Chatham High School and furthered his education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He was employed as a landscaper and retired from Mountaire Farms. He had a passion for writing (especially poetry), fishing, and playing cornhole. He also enjoyed hanging out with his two best friends, Ernest Marsh and John Henry Marsh.
Jim Watson was preceded in death by: his parents; sister Minnie Watson Williams; and brother Colester Watson.
He is survived by: his brothers, Clyde Watson (Mary) and George Watson, Jr. (Gale), both of Siler City, NC; his sister Ruby Williams (LIles) of Greensboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
