Mr. Gary Stephen McNeil, the knee baby was born to the late William D. McNeil and Marie Jordan McNeil on August 12,1957 and departed this earthly life on June 2, 2022 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Gary was educated in the Chatham County School System by attending Chatham High School and Jordan Matthews High School. He entered the Army National Guard in February 1974 as a Switchboard Operator and was Honorably Discharged in June 1982. He was employed at Quality Mold Plastics as a machinist, where here tired in 2019.
Gary attended Price Community Church of God of Prophecy and served faithfully as a Youth Leader and was instrumental in the development and training of the youth of the church. Gary's favorite scripture was Psalms 30:5(KJV) which reads,“Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy comes in the morning.”
Gary was a very simple and humble person not taking a lot to please him, but did not have a problem telling you when you were wrong. He had a love for children and loved his nieces and nephews. Gary was an avid fan of UNC College basketball and his favorite NFL team was the Washington Football Team. He and his brother Michael, would talk on the phone for hours discussing sports. Gary loved to talk and was a jokester loving to make family and friends laugh.
Gary was preceded in death by his father,William D. McNeil.
Gary leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Marie J. McNeil; two sisters, Deborah Staley(Eddie) and Judy Headen of Siler City, NC; one brother, Michael McNeil (Susan) of Conyer, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
