Obituary
Frank Donsom Alston was born to the late George Felton Alston and Ola Bynum Alston on April 21, 1939 in Chatham County, North Carolina. Our beloved Frank was called home on Friday, July 17, 2020.
He grew up in Goldston, North Carolina and graduated from
J. S. Waters High School in 1958.
Frank eventually moved to New York – the state that he lovingly called the greatest place in the world. In 1962 he joined the 272 Teamsters Union and maintained membership until his death. Frank later became employed at the Lenox Club Garage in 1964 and remained a close, loyal employee until his retirement in 2010. He thoroughly enjoyed his “family” at the garage and always looked back on his time there with the fondest of memories.
Frank was married to Nannie Mae Alston of New York. They remained good friends until her death in July 2016.
He was also a lifelong member of Roberts Chapel Baptist Church in Goldston, NC. Frank always made it a mission to attend the annual revival each year.
Perhaps the greatest achievements of Frank were his records of service. He was a faithful member of Prince Hall Chapter No. 27 O.E.S., Prince Hall Lodge No. 38, and Medina Temple No. 19 A.E.A.O.N.M.S.. Over the years Frank held several leadership roles and spearheaded numerous events. He has been recognized and celebrated many times for all of his accomplishments and dedication.
Left to cherish his memories are sisters, Bernice Lyons (George) of New York, Debra Faye Paige (Carl) of North Carolina, and brothers, Lewis Alston (Tina) of Ohio and James Nicholas Alston of Ohio. He is also survived by stepson, Jimmy Frazier of New York as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, lodge brothers and friends.
