Obituary 

Chesley McSwain Sr. was born December 25, 1962 to the late John Benjamin McSwain Sr. and Shirley Jean Nettles McSwain. 

Dion was a God loving man with a heart as big as the ocean. He never met a person that he did not like. Dion always opened his heart and many times his home to anyone who needed someone to talk to. Dion loved singing and reading his Bible. He loved fishing and drawing and when he was able, he loved dancing. When he decided he wanted to be a “chef”, he decided to get jobs that required him to use his “cooking skills”. He worked at Whole Foods for many years as a lead cook. The last job he held before his illness was at the General Store in Saxapahaw, where he was able to create his own concoctions, which usually tasted pretty good. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to play jokes on people. He could always give as good as he got when it came to pranks. 

Dion joined Hamlet Chapel Church and sang in the male choir until his health prevented him from attending. Dion had a peaceful, kind, loving and giving soul and he will surely be missed. Dion leaves behind to cherish him a daughter, LaTwanna McSwain and a son, Chesley Dion McSwain Jr. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Ariel McSwain, Zayden Kyser McSwain, Katalina Sofia McSwain and Damian Chesley McSwain; two brothers Joseph McSwain, John McSwain Jr., four sisters, Janice Hanner (Sam), Wanda Harris (James), Elizabeth McSwain and Karla McSwain. Dion also leaves behind to cherish memories seven nieces and three nephews, along with a host of great nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. 

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you… Isaiah 66:13
