Jennie Lynn Keyes entered into eternal rest January 8, 2024. Jennie was an amazing woman. She was loving, kind, and generous. She was thoughtful and the ultimate gift-giver. She radiated beauty, intelligence, and style. There was an aura of calm, grace, and quiet dignity that surrounded her. When you were around her, you wanted to stand a little taller and sit up straighter. If you were prone to silliness, you wanted to keep it under control in her presence. She embodied excellence and left a lasting impression.
Jennie was an ambitious and industrious career woman. She left Siler City to pursue opportunities in the Washington, DC area. She worked for years at Jelleff's, an upscale department store, starting as an elevator attendant, moving into sales, and then accounting. She remained an employee until it closed in the 1970s. She then worked in marketing for the American Gas Association. She finished her career in the Washington, DC area as a paralegal.
She made her way back home to Siler City in 2006, and returned to First Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith in God was the source of her strength. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the source of her confidence. She gained wisdom by relying on The Holy Spirit. She loved the church and found so much joy in the choir.
Jennie was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Hemphill; her father, Archie Manning; her brother, Archie Manning Jr.
There are so many people who were dear to Jennie. She leaves to cherish her memory; her love and companion, Lawrence (Larry) Lipscomb; her sister, Sandra M Alston (Alvis); her cousin, Albert McClain (Marie). She also leaves a niece and a host of cousins and friends who adored her.
