Jayvon Pryor Obituary

Jayvon Dupri Pryor was born in Cumberland County at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Liberty formerly known as Fort Bragg, NC on 24 August 2005 to Victoria and Pierre Pryor. He started his education in the Cumberland County School System attending Cumberland Mills Elementary in Hope Mills, NC. He spent a short while in elementary school at Fort Richardson in Alaska. Then due to his Mom’s deployment Jayvon attended J.R. Ingram Elementary in Sanford, North Carolina while living with his Grandmother Sandra Stokes. Next Jayvon attended South Harnett Elementary and moved on to Western Harnett Middle School.

Jayvon affectionately known as Jay to some and Jay Bird to others officially deemed himself as “World Traveler” when he made a major move to South Korea where he attended Daegu High School. Jay finished out his high school years at Cleveland Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio. There he developed into a well-known cross country and distance runner breaking many records across the state. Jayvon was a certified jokester and was the only one who showed up to graduation wearing ear buds, had no cap, took a selfie on stage when it was time to get his diploma, then left early because he was just ready to go eat. Not only was Jayvon a world class athlete but he was an avid reader, and his intelligence was beyond compare which earned him a full four-year scholarship to Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina where he was a member of the cross county and indoor track teams.

Jayvon was adored by many people everywhere he went, and his beautiful smile could brighten any rainy day. He claimed that his mother gave him his athletic genes, good looks, and passion for running, jumping and climbing. Jayvon was truly a mamma’s boy. Jayvon loved to go to Barnes & Noble to buy books and was an avid reader from a young age. He was smart and had a vivid and imaginative imagination. Jayvon was known for telling jokes, had a great sense of humor, and was very playful, especially with his sister Albany.

She would not permit anyone else to interfere with her younger brother. Aunt Chris affectionately referred to Jayvon as "Little Fat Legs" when he was a baby. He loved playing silly games with his cousin Deketric and wrestling with the Grinch's "Aunt Tiffany" during the holidays.

Jayvon exchanged life for eternity on Thursday 7 December 2023. God whispered: “I give you eternal life, and you will never perish out of my hand. John 10:28. God said Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isiah 41:10 Come now and take your rest.

Jayvon leaves to cherish his mother Victoria Smith (Chris) of Hopewell, VA, his father Pierre Pryor Sr. (Aja) of Charolotte, NC; his sister Albany Chatmon (Markel) of Spring Lake, NC; brother Pierre Jr aka PJ of Charolotte, NC; Grandmother Sandra Stokes of Sanford, NC; Grandfather John K.
