Curtenia Ann (Taylor) Davis

Curtenia (Tina) Ann Davis, of Siler City, North Carolina peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on September 22, 2023, after a long illness at the age of 78.

Tina was born Curtenia Ann Taylor, to the late Curtis Sr. and Aileen Brooks Taylor on June 17, 1945, in JenkinJones, West Virginia. Tina a gentle soul confessed Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was baptized and a member of the JenkinJones Community Church on the Hill. She received her education in West Virginia at Gary District High School but in the summer of 1960, the family relocated to New Jersey, where she completed her last two years of High School and graduated from Eastside High School, in Paterson, New Jersey in 1963.

It was in Paterson, New Jersey where her love story began with the boy next door whom she dated and married, Leroy Davis on December 12, 1965. Tina was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years on September 4th, 2018.

Tina was a Union Label Seamstress for over 15 Years. Tina was very creative and excelled in the art of dressmaking in her early 20s. She had a great eye for the quality of the cut, a well-finished seam, a covered button, concealed zippers, and the precision of intricate beading, she could do it all. Her Singer sewing machines were part of the furniture in her home, and she made beautiful clothes for family, neighbors, and friends. She was uncomfortable taking payment, as her sewing was something she enjoyed. In the late 70’s the steep increase in imported goods on the American market caused challenges that led to her leaving the union and seeking a new career. She landed on her feet at Aramis / Estee Lauder in Oakland, NJ for 15 years where she served as a Quality Assurance Inspector. Tina was also a successful Avon Representative for over 20 years.

She was a member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Paterson, NJ for over 40 years under the pastorate of the late Rev. James R Burton and Pastor Roy Jones serving as a Trustee, and participating in the Hospitality Ministry Missionary, Outreach Mass Choir, and the Praise and Worship Choir named the “Voices of Hope. One of her favorite scriptures was Matthew 25-23 “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord” KJV.

In 2007 Curtenia and Leroy left New Jersey retiring to Siler City, North Carolina. She later became a member at Lambert Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. William Harrington and later Rev. Kevin L. Leake serving in the kitchen committee. Tina remained a faithful member until her declining health prevented her from attending.

She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: Two sons Charles Davis (Sonia) of Chesapeake Virginia, and Darrin Davis (Jennifer) of Tobyhanna, PA. One daughter Angela Johnson (David) of Siler City, NC. Four grandchildren, Darrin Davis, Jr. (Paige) of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Charles Davis Jr., of Chesapeake, VA, Chelsee Davis of Chesapeake VA, and Kenya Scott (Tampa, FL). Two Brothers; Curtis Taylor (Chesapeake, VA) and Timothy Taylor (Tempe, Arizona); One sister- in-law, Dorothy Taylor (Conway, NC), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
