Carla Demetria Johnson Turner or also known as Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Carla, or even CaCa like some of the kids she took care of called her. She was put on this earth on January 30, 1975 as the ninth and final child to Edna Johnson and the late Pearl Johnson, and was gifted her heavenly wings on February 5, 2024.
Carla attended school in Chatham County. Jordan Matthews High until 1993 and later attended Central Carolina Community Collage (CCCC) and graduated with a degree in Medical Billing and Coding. Carla was always a mother first over anything else. She has three biological children, Jerrard, Keion, and Cemya Turner. She also fostered her second niece Zareanna Carter from a kid to a teenager, along with being the Godmother to Yasiah and Ni’lyn Headen. Taking care of people, especially kids was her favorite thing to do, doesn’t matter if they were family or not.
Carla always showed up for her family and friends in any way she could. Whether that be visiting, going on trips, eating out, or even something as simple as giving them a call to talk for hours just to say “well I ain’t want nothing” before she’d hang up.
Carla made a soul mate in her husband Barry Turner for over thirty plus years. They then married on May 12, 2007 officially making her Mrs. Carla Turner. The both of them shared endless memories, traveling with friends, attending church, going to all their kids graduations/ school events, and going on dates. Carla loved her husband so much she even put up with his snoring all the way until her last day here.
There were so many people that Carla left behind in this difficult time. Husband, Barry J. Tuner; two sons, Sergeant Jerrard Turner, and Specialist Keion Turner (19 Kilo Tankers); and lastly a daughter, Cemya Turner. Along with her mother Edna Johnson; five brothers, Keith, Phil, Clarance, Chris, and Rodney Johnson; and two sisters, Francine and Teresa Johnson.
