Apostle Cherry Marsh Obituary

Obituary

Cherry Lynn Scotton Marsh was born

October 24, 1956, to the late Jessie Lee and Lucille Scotton Currie. Cherry graduated from Jordan-Matthews High School in 1975 and went on to attend Dudley School of Cosmetology and became a licensed hairstylist. Although her spiritual beginnings and her start of her relationship with the Lord began at Rocky River Baptist Church. The Lord later led her to Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP) in Siler City, NC where she gave her life to the Lord under the leadership of Rev. Marie Siler, on October 18, 1981.

Cherry attended Central Carolina Community College (Sanford) and Asheboro Community College to enhance her marketability for continual gainful employment. She became employed by a number of different employers,  where she also continued her course work studies at UNC-Chapel Hill to continue to increase her employability.  Due to her experience and continual educational pursuit, she was offered a position at UNC-Greensboro as a contracts and grants administrator.  It was during this time she answered the call of God in all its fullness to leave her job and go into full time ministry.

Cherry was called to Ministry in 2000 under Dr. Bruce Scotton Ministry and later accepted the  calling to establish her Ministry. Then she attended different courses and class to enhance her Ministry including the School Of Theology. She was the founder of the church of the True and Living God and  Ministries in Siler City, and Eden NC.Which now is New Divine Destiny Ministries, Burlington, NC.

While shepherding her own congregation, and her works being the witness of an Apostolic call and anointing, she was consecrated an Apostle.

Throughout her faith walk, Apostle Marsh has served in the following capacities: State Evangelist of COGOP, Evangelist Director, Pastoral Aide Director, Youth Life Team Director, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Usher, and Choir Member. Since becoming a Pastor and Overseer, and because of her continuously, faithful answering of her call, Apostle Marsh had the opportunity to provide a consistent broadcast on the Word Network Channel.

Apostle Marsh was a true Women of Faith who loved the Lord with all her heart, and was willing to reach and teach the lost at whatever the cost. She operated in the Five-Fold Ministry, and throughout, she continued to be a loving and giving Woman of God. Although her love for the Lord could not be matched, she held a special love for her husband Danny Marsh 37 years of Marriage. She Loved her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She was always telling everyone that she could about Jesus; always willing and trying to reach souls for the Lord and was willing to do whatever the Lord led her to do.  Anyone who met her could testify for the fact she had an uplifting spirit that exuded God’s grace, offering the experience of her beautiful heart from the inside out.

Apostle Marsh was proceeded in death by her father; her beloved son Jeffery Lynn Scotton; sister, Ann Edwards; sister, Patricia Alston, and just as the beginning days of her life where she transitioned from flesh to spirit, she walked from labor to reward with her mother.

Apostle Marsh leaves to cherish memories for her beloved husband of  37 years Elder Danny Marsh (Greensboro, NC); son, Prentiss Scotton (Andrea Chapel Hill  NC); daughters, Aerial Alston (Tracy  Siler City, NC) and Candace Marsh (Greensboro, NC); 20 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; Brother, Phil Scotton (Siler City, NC); brother, Jessie Scotton (Siler City, NC); sister Betty Scotton, Siler City NC ;sister, Seccilla Slade (Burlington, NC); a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends that she loved dearly!
